Hi I'm Cortney, Owner and trainer here at COAST Dog Training. I graduated from The School of Animal Science, Professional Animal Care Specialist Program, and am a certified animal care technician. I have dedicated my entire life to the care of all types of animals. I have been the head technician at several veterinary hospitals. I was hired by Disney to head up their entire animal department. I created the training program that The Disneyland Resort uses today on over 30 draft horses of all ages. Early in my career I spent the better part of four years as the assistant manager at the Orange County Humane Society, and went on to become the managing director. This is where the idea of COAST came from. Day after day people would get rid of their dogs, usually for the most ridiculous reasons. The most common reasons were digging, jumping up, pulling on walks, not coming when called… All of these things are very easy to correct with a “basic obedience” class. When asked why they don’t take a class, most said “training is too expensive!!” I decided that everybody deserves QUALITY dog training. To this day l haven't raised our class size. I limit our group classes to 10 dogs. By limiting the size of the classes we can personalize a program that best fits each dog! I also offer private lessons. These lessons also include lifetime group lessons. By starting with private lessons your dog can work without distractions and build up his confidence. After this you take your dog to our group classes to reinforce what he has learned and learn to work with distractions. Working with distractions gets your dog ready for “real life”. I am constantly trying to improve and expand my knowledge regarding dog training, so I can best serve you!!!!! I have been the behavior specialist on the vicious dog board for Westminster for over 15 years. I was formerly on the Great Pyrenees rescue board, and am currently the Executive Director at WAGS pet adoption in Westminster CA. I have been featured in books, newspaper articles, and several local and national news and morning shows. In 2017, the Orange County Register named me one of the 100 most influential people in Orange County California.
